I think I cried every day for the first three months. Getting the kids happened so fast, I think we were all in a state of shock. It is kind of a blur now. A few things stand out though. The first is how needy the kids were. At the time they were 18 mos, 2 1/2 yo, 3 1/2 yo, and 5 yrs. I'm a good sized woman, 5'9", but I didn't have enough lap to go around. For attention, to ask for anything, they yelled. Every thing we did was a major production: changing diapers; taking baths; eating dinner; getting ready for school; getting in the car; you name it, it was an event.

The turning point was a visit from my sister who lives in Michigan. I had never been so happy to see her in my life. It was Christmas time, which is a notoriously disorganized time of the year to begin with. Her organizational skills went into overdrive. I found I was so close to the situation, I couldn't make heads nor tails of my life. God bless her, she made it easier to see what was happening and what I needed to do to gain some perspective and control over our new life as a family.

Now I want to hear what happened to you. Start your own thread and tell us your story.

It will be 3 years in October that the kids came. It was only supposed to be for 6 months, than a year. Their mother hasn't finished her plan to get them back in all this time. The kids are 4,5,6, and 9 now. They are a goo dbunch a kids. Do you only have the two kids?

Yes, I have two, just over 11 years apart. God Bless you, I can't imagine what your day must be like!

Great observation NannieD. I'm 20 years older than my daughter. Now I'm raising her son and he is 20 years younger than his mother. I hope I can do a better job for him than I did for his mother.
