:cool:Â*Â*It's so great to have finally found a spot where I can interact with other Grandparents in my situation!
Â*Â*Â*Â* I'm the proud grandmother of a fantastic grandson, but I never realized that I would be the one actually raising him.Â*Â*When my daughter split up with the father of my grandson, they origionally just came to stay for a "short" period of time - just until she could get her feet back on the ground.Â*Â*Well, days turned into weeks and weeks into months until my daughter finally announced that she had found work - in another state.Â*Â*She asked me if I could watch her son while she got setteled in.Â*Â*That was two years ago.
Â*Â*Â*Â* Today, I find myself wondering what has happened to my life.Â*Â*Or at least the life that I had always pictured.Â*Â*Instead, I'm helping with homework, going back and forth to little league, and cleaning up messes left by a very active boy.Â*Â*I love him dearly, but there are just days when I feel too old and tired to keep up this pace.Â*Â*Where did my "golden years" go?
Â*Â*Â*Â* Thank you for the opportunity to vent, I'll save some money on therapy bills and buy a new baseball mitt for myself.

Hi, not alone, I am a mother of 8 but still have an 8 yr old, 10 yr old and 15 yr old at home. My 19 yr old has a 10month old girl that I take care of. She is n't ready to be a mom! (today) It is really hard eventhough I have had many babies and young one in and out of my home for 28 years. ( I am a foster mother). I stopped taking in young children about 2 years ago and now have my granddaughter. We don't know how long she will be here because her mom has grand ideas! But it is hard andI am tired!! She is a sweet baby but demanding and also big. my left arm is not the same and my legs ache from holding her. But I am almost 60, and I wisper that! It was nice talking toyou and maybe I will get this web site figured out and get on the main board! Cathy, new jersey

Welcome Cathy! Taking care of a baby is so hard on the body. I watched Mckeener's grandchildren earlier this week. They both are still in diapers. My last one in diapers trained last summer, so I have gotten accustomed to not doing them anymore. I have post traumatic stress from my 8 hours with her kids.
When our children have children and aren't ready to be the responsible parent yet, the buck stops with the grandparents. God bless you for loving your granddaughter enough to make sure she is well cared for. Do you foresee your daughter growing up enough to want to be a mommy anytime soon?
PS. Your secret about your age is safe here .

;)Hi Cathy!Â*Â*First of all - "Hats off to you".Â*Â*Your situation is unfortunately not only difficult, but also very common.Â*Â*I wish you the best of luck to you and just keep remembering that all the love that you give out will come back to you ten fold!Â*Â*Hopefully, your daughter will settle down soon and you can resume your life - it sounds like it's been very full with 8 kids of your own.Â*Â*Keep on smiling and hope to hear from you soon!

get that mit yet. Just remember to put it between your head and the wall when you start beating it. Saves on asprin as well.
This is not how I planned on spending my golden years either. I was counting the days until my youngest left the nest. I removed all the furniture. Put up bookshelves, turned the smallest bedroom into a computer room and got used to eating when I wanted and going out to dinner.
I now have two toddlers. So not only is my computer room gone. I am now getting up again in the middle of the night and doing the diapers and potty training.
